What We Do

We promote a healthy dental regimen in hopes of making life long changes for all individuals.

Through years of distributing dental supplies and educational pamphlets, we are using our experience to design educational structures as well as a software that foster healthier habits.
Our Goal
To better the current state of dental hygiene for individuals who may lack access to proper oral care, as studies have shown the long term impact that can be made through both education and supplies.

Currently we are refining our vision to provide and foster oral health education, along with dental supplies to create a sustainable and lasting effect in a community. With this in mind, a current pilot project is in the works. We are also designing a software application, accessible to communities and healthcare providers worldwide. Going forward the 2thFairy aims at creating projects that focus on the long-term impacts that can be made to empower indaviduals.
Education
Since 2011, over 2,500 packets have been distributed all across the world, providing thousands of individuals with the necessary tools for improving their oral health. We have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback in regard to how the packets were taken, however recently we have come across a dilemma: what happens when the supplies are no longer useable? Our goal has always been to create lifelong changes and as such, we have realized the important role that education plays in fostering lifelong improvements.
Our new project called Cepilla Conmigo will be providing a dental health educational program for kids and mothers in a low-income Hispanic neighborhood in San Jose, California. In 2013, Kaiser Permanente found that oral/dental health has continuously been a prominent issue within this community. Additionally, this report notes the poor access that individuals have to dental care providers as well as to insurance.

Software
With the rise of mobile technologies in developing communities, now more than ever individuals have new accessible ways to connect to the internet. Traditional methods of communication between health providers or aid workers with those in need of care, have proven to be tedious and unreliable. We are early in the process of designing a software application to take advantage of the expanding network connectivity in developing communities. The ambition behind this project is to provide an easy way for individuals to reach out for assistance as well as aiding health care providers when deciding where to extend their care.
Why oral health?
When your dentist tells you that you need to floss more, they’re looking out for more than just the health of your teeth. According to a study conducted by the World Health Organization, “poor oral health may have a profound effect on general health, and [that] several oral diseases are related to chronic diseases (e.g. diabetes). The experience of pain, problems with eating, chewing, smiling and communication due to missing, discoloured or damaged teeth have a major impact on people's daily lives and well-being. Furthermore, oral diseases restrict activities at school, at work and at home causing millions of school and work hours to be lost each year throughout the world”. What‘s with the packets?
The packets include a donated toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and an educational card that teaches individuals how to properly brush and floss their teeth. The educational card so far has been translated into four languages: English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
None of this would be possible without the help and support from people like you!
